OfflineBaby Privacy Policy
Last updated: 19 October 2026
In short: OfflineBaby does not collect, store or share any personal data. It has no servers, no accounts, no analytics and no advertising. Video and sound travel only between your own devices, over your own Wi-Fi: encrypted between two phones; if you add an IP camera (Plus), its stream is read the way that camera provides it (see below). Optional purchases are handled by Google Play.
Who we are
OfflineBaby is developed by AgSoftware. Contact: agsoftdev94@gmail.com.
What the app does with your data
- Camera and microphone. On the phone set up as the "Baby phone", the camera and microphone are used to stream live video and sound to the "Parent phones" you have paired. The stream goes directly between the two phones on your local network and is encrypted (DTLS-SRTP). Nothing is recorded or uploaded. With "Talk to your baby" (OfflineBaby Plus), the Parent phone uses its microphone only while you hold the button, and your voice goes the same encrypted way to the Baby phone's speaker. The Baby phone also tells paired Parent phones its battery level, charging state and battery temperature, so they can warn you; this also stays on your network.
- Sound and movement detection. Crying, noise and movement are detected on the Baby phone itself, using an on-device model. Only small measurements (sound level, crying score, movement score) are sent to your paired Parent phones over the same encrypted connection.
- Cry analysis (beta). When you tap Listen, the phone records up to 8 seconds from its own microphone, analyses it on the phone and discards the audio immediately. It keeps only a short list of numbers describing the cry, plus the reason you choose afterwards, so it can learn your baby's cries. All of it stays on that phone; "Forget what it learned" deletes it.
- Camera on the Parent phone. Used only to scan the pairing code shown on the Baby phone. Images are processed on the device and never stored.
- Pairing keys. When you pair two phones, they exchange a secret key. It is stored only on those phones, protected by the Android Keystore, and excluded from backups.
- Settings. Your alert preferences stay on your phone.
- IP cameras (OfflineBaby Plus). If you add a Wi-Fi camera, the Parent phone reads its video and sound directly over your local network (RTSP) and runs the same crying, noise and movement detection on the phone itself. Nothing is recorded or uploaded. The camera's address, username and password are stored only on that phone, encrypted with a key protected by the Android Keystore, excluded from backups, and deleted when you remove the camera. Unlike the link between two phones, a camera's RTSP stream is not encrypted on your Wi-Fi (only its password exchange is protected), so other devices on the same network could see it: use a password-protected Wi-Fi. The camera itself, its setup app and any cloud service it uses are provided by its manufacturer under their own privacy policy; OfflineBaby does not connect to them.
- Night history (OfflineBaby Plus). The Parent phone keeps a log of the last 30 nights you watched: start and end times and when crying, noise, movement or a lost connection happened. It contains no audio, video or images, is stored only on that phone, is excluded from backups and is never uploaded.
- Device name. The Baby phone announces itself on your local network with its model name (for example "OfflineBaby Pixel 6") so your phones can find each other, and paired phones see each other's model name. Devices on the same Wi-Fi can see that announcement; it contains no other information and is never sent outside your network.
Third-party data
The cry analysis's feature space was prepared with the Donate-a-Cry corpus, made available under the Open Database License (ODbL). No recording from it ships in the app.
Purchases
OfflineBaby Plus and optional tips are sold through Google Play. Payment and purchase records are handled by Google under the Google Privacy Policy; we receive no payment details. To confirm a purchase, the app asks the Google Play app on your phone, which needs an internet connection at the time of purchase only. The billing library provided by Google may send its own diagnostic information to Google.
What we do not do
- The app itself makes no internet connection: it talks only to devices on your local network, including any IP camera you add (purchases go through the Google Play app).
- No account, sign-in or personal information is requested.
- No analytics, crash reporting, advertising or tracking SDKs are included.
- No data is sold or shared with anyone, because no data reaches us.
Permissions
- Camera, Microphone: streaming from the Baby phone; scanning the pairing code; on the Parent phone, the microphone only while "Talk to your baby" is held.
- Notifications: alerts on the Parent phone and the ongoing "monitoring" notification.
- Network access: required by Android for any connection, including local Wi-Fi ones (other phones, IP cameras).
- Google Play billing: buy OfflineBaby Plus or leave a tip.
- Foreground service, wake lock: keep monitoring (a Baby phone or an IP camera) running when the screen is off.
Children
OfflineBaby is intended for parents and caregivers, not for use by children. It processes images and sounds of a baby only to show them live to the parents' own paired phones, and never stores or transmits them elsewhere.
Deleting your data
All data lives on your phones. Removing a paired phone or a camera in the app, clearing the app's storage, or uninstalling the app deletes it completely, including the night history. Your Plus purchase stays attached to your Google account and can be restored after reinstalling.
Safety notice
OfflineBaby is not a medical device and does not replace adult supervision. It does not monitor breathing or vital signs.
Changes
If this policy changes, the new version will be published at this address with a new date.
